This post is about the term "Access Point" and how that relates to P2654, P1687.1, 1687, and 1149.1-2013. This term is related to AccessLink and Access Interface (See Interface).

From P2654 group discussion:
Access Point: A point in the hierarchy (pin, protocol, or sub-structure) whereby a change in protocol or structure of the data takes place

A further discussion in the P2654 Working Group reveals there is another aspect to Access Point.
Virtual Access Point: An Access Point that is stimulated indirectly by the stimulation of a higher level Access Point

Jeff Rearick was compiling additional definitions and proposing new definitions circulated in an email:
Access Point: an interface which is available to the equipment connected to the system under test through which transactions can be conducted.
Michele commented: Possible Access Points can be JTAG, I2C, etc...
