the Need is really an explanation for the sponsor (TTSC) and IEEE-SA RevCom (Review Committee) to justify why this particular standard is needed.

Re: PAR scope and direction

I believe that ATPG is most often "spelled out" as "Automatic Test Pattern Generation".

Re: PAR scope and direction

Sorry that I haven't found more time to contribute more regularly or more substantially. At any rate, being apart does give one the opportunity to look at the work product with fresh eyes ... As I do so, I am struck that a person coming to these without context might not get much of what it's trying...

Re: PAR scope and direction

Am I missing something? I didn't think anyone had suggested dropping the word "level" (other than the re-phrasing of the end of the last sentence) - I thought it was only "the" that was in question? That's the way I see it, Ian. At any rate, I won't be fussed either way, but now your reprising of t...

Re: Defining SJTAG

Thanks Ian. But doesn't our common practice as regards the use of "component" encompass boards and other such "aggregations" as well as atomic units? From a post you made in " PAR scope and direction " not too long ago: a component part of an assembly (e.g. a board within a sub-system) to be passed ...

Re: PAR scope and direction

To the whole, I think I'm aligned, also, though I do wonder about the use of articles in proximity to "system". Does the following read correctly? Better? This standard describes methods to allow, in conjunction with existing methods, for the coordination and control of a variety of interfaces to de...

Re: PAR scope and direction

"mishmash" says it well to me, too, though maybe its not universally translatable.

While I can see Ian's point, "variety" may be the best since it invokes the idea of multiplicity of type in addition to multiplicity of number ...

Re: Defining SJTAG

With apologies for replying to this without the benefit of reading for the full context of this recent attempt at "Defining SJTAG", here's a thought or few ... While I concur that inherent built-in test capabilities at the lowest level are unlikely to be impacted by "SJTAG", there is the matter of a...

Re: PAR scope and direction

I'd like also to specifically address the matter of diagnostic information as it pertains to " Need A ". Per our discussion and demonstration in the past, one of the needs we have sought to address is that tools used for test development may have access to more structural information than is availab...

Re: PAR scope and direction

This makes sense to me, too, but begs the question as to whether each of these should be articulated distinctly in the Need statement of disparate PARs? Or, even if we consider these as inextricably bound to a single omnibus Need, perhaps they still drive to different Purpose and Scope in disparate ...

Re: Study Group title and Call for Participation

Some degree of ambiguity (perhaps even confusion) at this point is just fine, I suppose?!

I have full confidence in the study group to iron out the wrinkles!!

(which, honestly, is why I'd just as soon stick with "SJTAG" for now)

Alright, then, that's enough from the peanut gallery ...

Re: Study Group title and Call for Participation

In reply to my earlier post: But maybe that is what we mean? It seems that "management" (or perhaps co-ordination, but that seems to amount to the same thing) is what we've come round to saying needs to be addressed. Maybe, indeed ... Actually, I meant to include a question mark in my text as well, ...

Re: Study Group title and Call for Participation

A few points here, all of fairly little consequence ... Digressing to the "title" for just a moment, consider that compounded noun modifiers are read from right to left, so "System Test Access Management" has the sense of something like "Management of Access of Test of System". Play around with diff...

Re: Study Group title and Call for Participation

Is this the point at which we hail "The king is dead, long live the king!" ?? Frankly, I liked the old king (SJTAG). I'm not much for the new king (STEAM), mostly because it loses all connection to the legacy (JTAG), but also because STEAM seems a highly overloaded term: Ref https://en.wikipedia.org...

Re: Study Group title and Call for Participation

I should probably just stay on the bench, so to speak, but I have a visceral reaction to the names that include “engineering” and “maintenance” … I don’t like them (yes, I know, it’s a personal problem ;) For the name, leveraging the study group proposal, I’d vote for System Test Access (SJTAG for s...
