Re: PAR scope and direction

Purpose mentions ATPGs - Automatic Test Program Generators. I agree it should expanded. Generally, I think you're right with your overall assessment, Jon - the one thing I'd maybe differ on is that the Need is really an explanation for the sponsor (TTSC) and IEEE-SA RevCom (Review Committee) to just...

Re: PAR scope and direction

Latest versions of STAM Scope, Purpose and Need, brought together for review: Scope: This standard: 1) defines a representation of conforming behavioral descriptions of interfaces and transformations, 2) defines new methods for utilizing those representations to enhance the test management and acces...

Re: PAR scope and direction

I'm happy with that. I think it adequately deals with "what is currently missing", but there's probably a knock-on effect on Heiko's second paragraph, which also refers to "board and system level"; it's the latter paragraphs that (try to) address why we need a way to manage and co-ordinate the stand...

Re: PAR scope and direction

Seems like a fair start, Heiko, thanks. Attempting to "wordsmith" the first sentence: While many standards exists at the device level, with diverse feature sets, there is currently no standard that provides for aggregation of these or the management and coordination between such standards from a boa...

General Data Protection Regulation 2018

In response to the GDPR, I've posted updated Privacy Policy statements on each of the active website sub-domains (and you may have hit a GDPR acceptance dialog on your way here): Main site (www.sjtag.org): http://www.sjtag.org/gdpr-privacy-policy Forums (forums.sjtag.org): http://forums.sjtag.org/ap...

Site CMS Software Update - Joomla 3.8.8

The main site Content Management Software has now been updated to Joomla 3.8.8 - This is a bug-fix and security update. In the background, I've also changed a few settings to improve security, following recommendations from the Joomla development team; none of these will have any effect on normal us...

Re: PAR scope and direction

Collated material on "Need" (essentially a copy of Brad's slides: http://files.sjtag.org/StudyGroup/SG_Meeting_36_bgvt_subset.pdf) STAM Need (pre-Study Group): A standardized method is needed to coordinate component access topologies, interface constraints, and other dependencies at the board and sy...

Re: PAR scope and direction

Are we sure that's right though? I think the "producers" we're talking about are probably not the creators of the interfaces (although that is possible) but instead are producers of some "part" that embodies one or more interfaces. I don't think that affects what the description is of, so I still le...

Re: PAR scope and direction

I'm wondering if we really have a "smallest unit"... If I go back to Brad's post on the previous page and the second diagram therein, we could be including the internal bridging between two interfaces within a chip, and we could also be dealing with the linkage between interfaces on blocks of IP wit...

Re: PAR scope and direction

In the above, I think "access mechanisms" is the wrong subject - I think in the context here, we're really talking about the providers of the conforming descriptions (they may well be the providers of the access mechanism too, but it feels like we've confusingly switched context). "Components", whil...

Re: PAR scope and direction

I think "descriptions" still forms a necessary part of detailing what is conforming but the comment does bring one other thing to my attention: 1) defines a representation of conforming behavioral descriptions of interfaces and transformations, ... This seems to have the wrong subject: I'd argue tha...

Re: PAR scope and direction

I agree that I've probably over simplified, but that was in a way deliberate in order to get a draft re-wording to talk around. We probably want to avoid over-elaborating in the Scope while making sure we still permit everything we need and my words don't really do the latter.

Re: PAR scope and direction

I've only had time to consider Adam's first question, "what manner of "thing(s)" would claim conformance to the standard?", and even then only incompletely. Given that the group believes this question is best addressed within the Scope, we begin the current version: "This standard describes methods ...

Re: PAR scope and direction

The challenge seems to be putting the "what" into a relatively concise form of words. I think it's permissible for a PAR to have attachments for diagrams, but I don't recall ever seeing that done. I think we will always need the behavioural descriptions for the device-to-device interfaces, but there...
