Re: PAR scope and direction

Apologies to everyone if I seem to be making a habit of posting things late on a Sunday leaving people little chance to read my comments prior to the meeting, but frankly, this is about the only free time I get these days... I have been accommodating to all types of suggestions to "tone down" the ne...

Re: PAR scope and direction

There were a few things that I felt came out of this week's meeting. I won't use the word "Needs" for these because I think that's become a rather overloaded term; let's call them expectations or aspirations: There is an aspiration to have something that a system specifier can give to sub-system des...

Re: PAR scope and direction

... SJTAG recognizes the need for some form of standardized measurement of test coverage and quality of test, but this standardization effort (this PAR) does not attempt to address that need? There is a need to ease test development and to improve test coverage measured by various means including, ...

Re: PAR scope and direction

That sounds like a fair suggestion, Heiko. A thought occurred to me this evening: We've spoken about SJTAG as providing improved test coverage but the thought I had was that need not be true for SJTAG to still be successful. A tool need not only allow you to do some task you couldn't otherwise do at...

Re: PAR scope and direction

The draft we started from was written to be Use Case independent because we recognised from the outset that SJTAG could be used for more than test. I guess that when 1149.1 was originally drafted, "test" was the only thing under consideration, and the other uses saw an opportunity to exploit what it...

Re: Definition of BIST (Built-in Self Test)

Resurrecting a very old topic, this came up during the last meeting of 2017 and Louis suggested that BIST (to differentiate from BIT) was a test that did not require any resources other than those provided by the tested item itself. I think I've captured Louis' suggestion there and infer that this a...

Forum software update - phpBB 3.2.1

As you can no doubt see, the our forum software has been updated and is now using phpBB 3.2.1. While the appearance is different (it is now a variation on the standard ProSilver theme), the functionality is largely identical, at least as far as most users are concerned. The main difference you will ...

Re: Wiki Logins and Account creation

The feature described above has now been disabled due to incompatibilities with the forum software and lack of ongoing support from the developers of the add-on. Users will need to create a separate account on the wiki; this will ask for a registration "keyword". This is the same anti-spam mechanism...

Re: Forum Software Upgrade

Further to the above, I've been doing a dry run on a copy of the existing software and database. While the upgrade itself is relatively uncomplicated, what I've found is that changes in the user authentication in the new forum software breaks the shared authentication we have with the wiki (a semi-c...

Re: Forum Software Upgrade

I will likely update the forum software over the Christmas break, when I (hopefully) will have more time. At that point, I will likely revert to using one of the "stock" template sets for the forum styling (perhaps with minor modification) instead of using third party styles. One of the reasons for ...
