Re: PAR scope and direction

Following on from the discussions in yesterday's meeting , I'd agree with the view that the topic of "system fault metrics" falls well outside the area of concern for this group. Further, you could debate whether that should address the goodness of the test itself or the system's inherent ...

Re: PAR scope and direction

I'm thinking that I made a mistake is using the word "Need" in describing Need 'A' and Need 'B' . "Need" can take on alternative usages which make its use here potentially confusing so maybe "Aim" would have been a better choice. It then becomes more readable if you wan...

Forum Software Upgrade

The current forum software version we are using will go "End of Life" at the end of 2017, so I ought to migrate to the current production version before then. I've been watching to see if the template pack that our current forum visual appearance is based on was going to be updated to matc...

Re: PAR scope and direction

So, are we now considering to mention specific use cases in the Purpose statement of the PAR for an initial SJTAG standard, referring to "test and diagnostics"? I'm not sure - we certainly avoided it intentionally before: Uses cases have relevance to Need 'A' (I propose "Health Repor...

Re: PAR scope and direction

Starter on Purpose, proposed by Louis:
To facilitate test and/or diagnostics of systems made up of lower level sub-systems.

The object is to try to encompass both Need 'A' and Need 'B' in a single statement. Please try to expand/refine from here.

Re: My need is...

I'm hoping the rest of the group can help me think about a possible use-case in Automotive electronics. ... It's just a thought experiment, so feel free to poke holes in the scenario or point out aspects I've neglected to mention. Thanks in advance! It's perhaps a little off-topic from the poll its...

Re: My need is...

I'm seeing this poll as not being a simple question... I see the value in Need 'A' and would benefit from it, without doubt, but I also see it as a "hard sell": It'd be difficult to get board/module designers to take on the additional effort even when it's in-house and even more so to expe...

My need is...

With reference to Need 'A' and Need 'B' (see viewtopic.php?p=1227#p1227), what do the group members think best fits their own particular expectations.

I'll leave the poll open for 15 days and I'll allow people to change their mind during that time :) .

Re: PAR scope and direction

This makes sense to me, too, but begs the question as to whether each of these should be articulated distinctly in the Need statement of disparate PARs? I agree that this a crucial question to answer. My initial sense of it is that these two needs could stand independent of one another, but with th...

Re: PAR scope and direction

From some of the recent discussions, I'm sensing that there are probably two distinct areas of "need" being expressed. I'll try to describe what I think they are in that hope that it helps to solidify what we're doing as a study group in the remaining few weeks of the year. Need 'A' is a r...

Re: SJTAG definition of a "system"

Regarding "System Test": While I'm generally in agreement on the need for a fault isolation capability, I'm not so sure that it's a universal need. For example, if I want to know if a unit is good to ship (a Final Acceptance Test) or check that a spare unit taken off a shelf is fit to inst...

Re: SJTAG definition of a "system"

Transcribing Louis' email of October 17: Attached are some ideas for coming up with some definitions of crucial terms for SJTAG. Hopefully we will have time next Monday to discuss these and come up with something we all feel comfortable with. System Previous Definition: For the purposes of SJTAG, a ...
